There are no established "major parties" within the Arcan Federation, though there are four that have routinely high voter turn-outs in general and mid-term elections. There are thousands of political parties overall, ranging anywhere from pro-monarchy to pro-anarchy and anywhere along the way. The four major political parties are the Modernist (Democratic Socialist), Menshevik (Leninist), and Authoritative (Stalinist) Parties, as well as the Commoners' Council of United Peoples (Council Communist).

In election seasons, primaries are held to determine each party's nominee for specific positions, but more often than not the nominated candidate will be the leader of each party. In order for a party to get a "majority" in the Soviet, in effect having the advantage of being allowed to fill all Commissariats with individuals from their particular party and avoiding the necessity of forming a coalition government, it must garner at least 40% of the popular vote.

The current Premier, Kelly Petrenko-Redeker, is of the Menshevik Party. Having not won a majority of the seats in the SAS, the Menshevik Party has formed a coalition government with the Commoners' Council for Progress and Unity. The CCUP elected Hu Jiao Ban and Raylan Tenshin as the dual-office holders of the Chancellery for the coalition government for the 2205 - 2210 term.
